Gerasimov Vyacheslav ( 1941 - till now )

Vyacheslav Gerasimov was born in Ukraine, Krivoy Rog City, Januari 6th 1941.

The first instrument he played on was the domra in the Children Art Palace Orchestra. Thereafter he got acqainted with the piano accordeon. At that time piano accordeons were rare in Russia: they were not manufactured in the country and all of them were trophies from the second world war. Gerasimov was deeply impressed by the instrument and decided to learn how to play on it.

During two years he studied with V. E. Stoletny, a talented improviser, but he wanted to start with profesional lessons. Yet, as in Russia the piano accordeon was seen as a musical instrument of Bourgeois culture, he had to continue his education not for playing on a piano accordeon but for playing on a bayan. In 1956 Gerasimov started his studies at the Leningrad Musical College.
In 1960 Vyacheslav Gerasimov became a student at the Gnessin Institute of Music in Moscow and from 1961 to 1965 he was student at the Leningrad State Conservatory. In 1965 - 1966 he served in the Ensemble of Song and Dance of Leningrad Military Region. Since 1961 to 1981 he worked in Lenconcert, performing frequently with folk choirs, accompanying folk singers. Since 1963 till now he works as accordeon teacher in the Saint - Petersburg Musical College.

Vyacheslav Gerasimov is a well-known teacher, author of various methodical works and composer of popular melodies among the accordeon players.
